I guess I'm blessed. Hardly anyone knows I'm an alcoholic but my family and they're totally supportive of my sobriety. As to anyone else, I would just have to tell them to mind their own business...

Oh, and the people I thought were funny when I was drinking are no longer funny.

I mean, what do you do with that?????
Wow! Truly astonishing!
I don't ever get the one liners. I was such a closet drinker that my quitting drinking did not really alert anyone...

Going on 2-1/2 years now, the skipper of the boat I crew on still offers me drinks. People I don't know, and some people I do, simply tell them that I don't drink.

If they ask why, can/have told them truthfully, "Doctors Orders"

Don't have to tell them that it's Dr. Bob.

Thanks guys. This stuff helps keep me focused, in the mindset that I am not alone and prevents denial from creeping back.

Here's my Favorite...

After being wasted and rowdy at a bar; I was arrested twice in two weeks.
Girlfriend, "You can still drink... Right?"

(Fun...? )
I was at the AC/DC concert on Saturday and this poor guy was passed out the whole time except for the last 2 minutes of the encore ("For Those About to Rock"). He woke up and absolutely rocked out for those 2 minutes!

Back to the topic, I visited some friends who were camping the other weekend. These guys know that I always used to drink until I blacked out. I was offered a beer and said "no thanks, still quit." The response was "WHAT? No happy medium?"

Umm...no.
