Stupid_Responses_from_People_when_you_mention_that _you_no_longer_drink
I guess I'm blessed. Hardly anyone knows I'm an alcoholic but my family and they're totally supportive of my sobriety. As to anyone else, I would just have to tell them to mind their own business...
This one still blows my mind!
From my mother, at my hospital bed, in the Psych ward, the night after I had my last drink and tried to commit suicide:
"Well, even Mrs. Mills (a recovering alcoholic friend of hers) learned how to
have wine with lunch"
I mean, what do you do with that?????

I don't ever get the one liners. I was such a closet drinker that my quitting drinking did not really alert anyone...
Going on 2-1/2 years now, the skipper of the boat I crew on still offers me drinks. People I don't know, and some people I do, simply tell them that I don't drink.
If they ask why, can/have told them truthfully, "Doctors Orders"
Don't have to tell them that it's Dr. Bob.

Thanks guys. This stuff helps keep me focused, in the mindset that I am not alone and prevents denial from creeping back.
Here's my Favorite...
After being wasted and rowdy at a bar; I was arrested twice in two weeks.
Girlfriend, "You can still drink... Right?"

And you still have said girlfriend!?
Back to the topic, I visited some friends who were camping the other weekend. These guys know that I always used to drink until I blacked out. I was offered a beer and said "no thanks, still quit." The response was "WHAT? No happy medium?"
Umm...no.
