Small Victory

Sew...My first meeting at the addiction center was scheduled for tonight. Well my counselor calls and says "I'll be there tonight, but then I'll be away for the next 2 weeks. Maybe you should wait till the 25'th to start. I says "OK" and immediately thought "Hey I can drink for another couple of weeks before I start."

Luckily, a friend of mine slapped some sense into me and demanded that I either go to an AA meeting tonight or come home and post in this forum for help. I ended up going to the addiction center and told the counsler I'd really like to start tonight.

Just earlier in the day I was telling the same friend that this hasn't been as difficult as I'd expected so far. Yet, a few hours later, I very nearly blew it. But tonight I'm going to bed one week sober for the first time since I can't even begin to remember when.

You guys are right when you talk about it being a day by day battle. I won the battle for today, with a little help. We'll see what tomorrow brings...

Had those thoughts too.

Good news is the best news. Keep that determination in the forefront of your mind. Congratulation on your sober time.
