hello john and welcome to sr,this is a great place! i was taken to an AA meeting at the age of 18,seems everyone except me could see the impending doom.i went on my merry way until 6 months ago.im now nearly 37.it wasnt pretty.its great you are addressing your potential alcoholism now and seeking sobriety.i wish you all the very best.

I've been on this forum for not even a day and I have already had 20 some comments.
You can't get that anywhere.
I have made a descion to quit drinking and start being sober.
Woo hoo I'm on day 2.
My plan is to keep coming on this forum and any time I feel that itch I will come on here and remember what everyone has said.

Hi Jeb - this is so great, that you realize what needs to be done at 18! I hope you know how amazing that is & are proud of your decision. You'll avoid all the chaos and tragic events that many of us have brought on ourselves with our drinking. I wonder what my life might have been if I hadn't ever discovered booze - the thing I used to make myself happy & able to cope with life.
