Desire Chip
Desire Chip
Hi friends - I went to a new AA meeting here in Toronto tonight. For some reason they do the chips at the end of the night rather than after How It Works.
So the speaker went on just a little long (no big deal because he was really good) and the chips guy sort of rushed through his deal. Anyway, he counted down 9, 6, 3, 2, and one months like always and then got to the desire chip. Still sort of rushing things he mumbled "And this is the chip that takes the most courage. It's for anyone with a desire."
Since it was not made clear what "anyone with a desire" actually means this little woman sitting all alone in a row then spoke up saying "What is that chip for, now?"
"It's for anyone who wants to change their life" the secretary said.
"Yes, I would like one of those" she said.
I just thought that it was lovely the way that turned out.

It's the symbolic representation of that moment when they decided enough was enough. It is a huge moment and has the potential to be life changing. As we know, however, it is not always so.
It always gets me, too!
