I'm sober now, DUH!!

So, I was just out on my front lawn watching the 3rd of july fireworks our local community does (I think they dont want to compete with the big city shows tomorrow). We can only see them through the trees, and I LOVE fireworks (well, except for what they do to poor rufus the dog). Every year I sit and watch them through the trees from my front yard, 6 beers in. And then it hits me BAM. Tomorrow night, I can DRIVE somewhere and watch real fireworks, up close, for the first time in eons. I will be sober. . .like all night! So I can just cruise around. . .Wow!

I will spend the day painting my kid sister's new house (funny, none of her friends who offered to help can make it on a "party" weekend haha). Then I will come home and get all the dogs cozy and safe in bedrooms where the noise won't upset them, then, I might just go see a display wheee!!

Anyone else beside poor char have sober plans for the 4th?

I'm having a sober weekend all around, my first one in ? years. Not to mention not drinking all week. All these emotions are flooding out of me. And they aren't bad emotions, just real ones. I feel stronger than I have in so long. I don't need a man to be happy -- I have everything I need right here: my kids, my dog, my job, my house, my family and friends.

I plan on doing about the same as you (getting the dog settled at home snuggly first) and then taking my kids to the fireworks. Enjoy the feeling of being able to do that, Lisa. It sure beats staying home and getting smashed.

I'm staying home too - painting the inside of my house. And, I got some pills for my lab - she freaks out (some gun dog).

Anyway, I'm with ya. Have a good 4th!

My AA home group is having our annual picinic
for the 4th. Family and friends are also invited.

I volunteered to open our meeting hall and chair
a noon meeting for anyone who is not going.
:)
Tonight I plan to catch the fireworks on TV

I'll be in and out of SR as usual.

Air conditioning is my friend ...:yup:

Happy 4th everyone!
:cheer

I heard the fireworks last night and prior to the fireworks they had an airshow and I was out walking my dog (live 2 miles from small airport where fireworks were as well) and watched the old planes in formation it was pretty cool. I was invited to watch the fireworks with neighbors but they would have been drinking a lot and I just didn't feel like sitting outside in nearly 100 deg temp (yes even at 9 pm) and get bitten by mosquitos. So just hearing the fireworks and sitting at home with a piece of chocolate cake was good for me!
A/C is my friend too!

The local Alano Club is having a BBQ today...so I'll go to that and hang out with the GF for the rest of the day. Its likely I wont have to go anywhere for a fireworks show as the neighborhood will ablaze with firecrackers and bottle rockets.
