Have a good trip Taz. Thanks for all the help that past two months (OK, 52 days). I too am heading out on a week-long vacation tomorrow night. It's going to be a great, sober time with the people I love.

Travel safe. Looking forward to hearing about your pursuit of the crabs.

Taz - you'll be right up the road from me! Assateague is right near us, too. Chincoteague is so wonderful - it'll be a great time. You will be greatly missed.

Anvil, I loved those books too. There was a movie, but I never saw it. Not sure if it was filmed there or what.

Good choice of vacation spots. Try and learn something about the water, will you?

Well I got back Sunday, had a BLAST!!!!

Sorry for scaring some folks with the title of the thread.

The house we rented was awesome, right on the bay with its's own private dock, the only problem was the only thing we ever caught except crabs were sharks, the bay must be a brooding area for them! They were all almost exactly the same size, about 18 inches.

Caught and ate a ton of crabs, rented a boat one day and caught a nice mess of croakers. Played cards, ate out several times, went on the Assateague wild life tour, went to the beach several times and did not get burnt!!! Had a young buck (deer) show up in the front yard, one of the twins wanted to get a real close up so I walked off of the deck with her just to be safe. We got about 10 foot from the buck making sure we did not make it feel cornered and we stopped..... at that point the buck walked right up to us and we petted it! This buck was not some ones pet, but there is no hunting allowed on the island so the deer are very tame.

Sadly we had a wounded dolphin swim very slowly down along our shore line, it had been hit by a boat and its dorsal fin was almost cut off entirely. We saw some nice healthy dolphin while fishing.

Saved a bird that had gotten tangled up in some kite string. Basically had a nice relaxing vacation.

Thanks to all for the well wishes, I never did make it to a meeting though, kept forgetting it! I go to my first meeting in well over a week tonight, just to start to recharge those recovery batteries.
