Talking I have a big mouth... do you?

The one thing I am very happy about not drinking is my big mouth is now under control. I have a way with words and can make people feel good or bad. I found that my big mouth got me into alot of trouble when I was drinking. I often found myself being opinionated and quite mean at times. Alot of the time I felt it was warranted as I was around other rude drunks who deserved it, but sometimes it wasnt.

I feel happy that I now realise I have the power to help people and make someones day a little brighter. I now feel good enough about myself to turn the other cheek instead of lashing out against someones stupid remark. Its a good feeling not always having to be on the defensive.

Anyone else's demeanor change after quitting?

Yep, totally. Now I'm "me" and not some chemically fabricated version of myself. I have to say both my hubby and my family seem to like me a lot better!

I cannot control the thoughts that enter my mind.

But I can control talking and acting on them.

You're not alone.

thinking before I speak has been a long road to change. I still often speak before I think and as a result do not Serve mankind as best I can.

this is exactly one very important thing that i have to re-double my efforts towards: listening to others.

the more confident i am of myself the more that i can see that i don't have to go around giving my opinion all the time. i have lots of work to do here; \

thanks for your post
