goodbye for now
I really hate to see this. If this board isnt the place for someone struggling. Then whats it for?
I wish I had some advice for you. But all I got is ...This is the time you should stay. You dont walk away from help and support when you need it most.
There is no clean time requirement here. If that was the case it would be a pretty dead board.
Stay close. We all have been there. Some of us still are.
Hang in there.

Yankees24,
Look man, I did exactly what you are doing when I had a bad relapse and I can tell you, you will not be better off by yourself then here with the support of SR. I just completed my first month sober and it is a wonderful thing. I never thought I would get there either. I also thought I wasn't ready to kick the booze, but if you think you need to, you are ready. BTW, my family lives in LI and we are huge Yankees fans. Don't leave us yet, we have more in common then you know.

Hey yankees24 ----
The (short version) 3rd Tradition of AA (whether you're into AA or not, this applies) states...: The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
Well......there are those who will argue that this applies to 'alcoholics only' who have a desire to stop drinking, and others feel membership is for 'anyone' who has a desire to stop drinking.
...but, note, they both agree it's for folks who have a desire to stop....NOT for those who've already stopped.
Therefore, stay here, or in AA, or at least with some folks who can provide a support group to help you on your way.....slips or not; relapses or not; just keep after it (sobriety/recovery)......there's only one way to succeed and that's to keep on trying.

Yankees!!! Don't go!!!
I did the same thing a week and a half ago. I went to a party thinking I would be able to not drink. I had a drink within 5 minutes of arriving and kept right on going all night. I went on a 2 day bender because I figured I had already screwed up, I might as well keep drinking. Day 2, I really felt like crap. I saw where I was headed and didn't like it. It was a learning experience. I'm back here again, Thank God!
