Continuation of Day One

Hi again folks.
Sorry I didn't know how to 'add' a 'page' to my other Thread that I wrote earlier (I was told once but then forgot), so here goes.
Well I went along to Rehab. Went to reception and they couldn't find me on the list of people being seen today. First downer.
Then they managed to 'locate' my name and I waited to see the doc. After a while he came out and asked me to go with him to this room at the back, a room like a doctor's office, you know-- one of those examining couches was there, sorrounded by instruments and testing gear.
So he then proceeded to ask me loads of questions, questions that I already been asked TWICE over, first when I was 'assessed', then again by anotrher doc last week... so I got p***ed off and said 'I've already been asked all this, the answers are in my Notes (which he was reading).............Second Downer.

Then came the physical exam, checking my blood pressure (he didn't tell me if it was ok or high afterwards), checking my hands for tremors, listening to me liver etc etc. He then told me I was not bad, apart from some fluid that wasn't anything to worry about.
He told me that they were having some trouble getting my blood test results from my regular doctor, as they -the reception staff at my docs- told him that ...I wasn't registered there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After some phone calls back to my doctor, they eventually received the blood test results, and they checked out not bad/okay.
As he was writing-up his report after checking me over, I asked him who he was (!), as he hadn't even bothered to introduce himself when I first saw him!

After all that, a 'specialist' nurse came in and she gave me the meds that I was due to take (Chlordiazepoxide, 8 a day), and high strength B vitamins.
She also told me about this group that met during the week, sounds something like AA but isn't, and she said that I didn't have to make any committment, just to see how it was and make my own mind up.
I might try it.

Well.. tonight I was dreading, first time I hadn't had any drink whatsoever.
It has actually passed fairly well, except for the early part of the evening when my mind was working overtime.... but managed to NOT go to my usual store/shop to buy the booze... shaking a bit, really thirsty.. but not bad.
Now that I can't work out. I know it's the first night, but ... well, either the meds I am on are really really good, or.... I dunno.

That sounds great!

I think the bumps in the road that you ran into were not too bad, and good that you got through them. I am glad that you are following through with this and getting the help you need.
