Thought I'd bump this one, since we have so many new members and I am interested about their screen names too.

Aysha 09-08-2009 09:36 PM

As most of you know I have recently changed mine.
Formerly known as chiynita. Spanish for lil mixed china girl.
I got that name when I was deep in my addiction from people I knew out there. That what everyone knew me as in the street. I decided to change it because I totally feel like I am at that huge turning point in my life. The one that has been long over due. So out with the old and in with the new.
So keeping with the asian theme. Because I am asian. I picked Aysha. I like it. I like how I spelled it. And I gave it to myself. As part of my new beginnings.

Pancake 09-08-2009 11:06 PM

Pancake is a Meerkat off the awesome show on Animal Planet "Meerkat Manor". She is one of Flower's "wayward daughters" which depicted ME as a wayward daughter myself and an alcoholic. I just loved Pancake in the show as she reminded me of myself and I adore the show too. Wish it still came on (sniff)...

Cause I'm Australian and female.

thirtybubba 09-09-2009 01:19 AM

'Cause there was a sticky that said make it not what you usually use... so I tried to think of the least like me/nicknames I've had, name I could.

The thirty was I wanted a number, but not actual digits, and thirty seemed easy to spell.

Bubba is what my grandmother called all of us when we were kids... she couldn't tell us apart, all 20 or so of us cousins/neighbor kids, thought we were all one little boy--who somehow changed ages a lot. No, she wasn't that old--late 40s--and yes, there was alcohol involved.

I figured I'd use it since it was at that time in my life when I started on the path that got me here, alcohol dependence, and here, SR. That, and nobody who's met me in the last 15 years would have a clue. Don't care if my family sees this, do care if people I know 'professionally' do. Don't want anything coming back to haunt me from something good I did--I got enough with the bad.

firehazard

I laughed so hard in a meeting after a older guy stated that he was so dry he

was a firehazard.:rotfxko The mental state of yes being highly volitile was with me

until around the six month mark:a049:

I still get a kick out of it though, the way he said it was just so funny to me I

had to use it.

I have a almost the exact image of the celtic knot over my lest chest.

Thanks, I love reading these.

Mine came from a verse in the Bible: "that which you do unto the least of these, my brethren, you do unto me." It's a reminder to be humble, like the least of these that I am, also a reminder to treat others as I'd treat the Master.... not that I always accomplish that, but I do try...

yeahgr8 09-09-2009 04:11 AM

Mine is the 2 words i used to say all the time, you can imagine sitting at the bar listening to all the crap we all used to talk...yeah thats great mate...lmao I din't make many friends needless to say:-)

KenL 09-09-2009 04:31 AM

No mystery here. My first name is Ken and the L is the initial for my last name. I've been thinking of changing it though to something more mysterious and less bland. What do you think of Polytropos? It means man of many turns which certainly applies to me. I got it from a book I recently read. That book being Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore.

Believe808 09-09-2009 04:51 AM

Ha ha, Ken, for some reason every time I see your screen name I think of Barbie & Ken Dolls. Not a bad thing!!!!

Believe808 09-09-2009 04:56 AM

by the way Ken, I do love your Avatar, meaning to tell you that for awhile now.

There was a thread about how the avi's came about too.

KenL 09-09-2009 04:57 AM

Believe,

Do you remember when my avatar used to be a pic of a Ken doll? I had a new one for each month. Those were the early days of my SR existence.

Here's a pic of the last one I used before going spacey on y'all. This one freaked out some of my friends here on SR.

I do remember that Ken and that's why I probably think of it, duh!!!!!

Glad you've been on this journey with me.

anono 09-09-2009 05:19 AM

Sikkisirus 09-09-2009 05:19 AM

Interesting thread. I was watching Con Air when I signed up, the Nicholas Cage movie. In it theres a character called Cyrus the Virus played by John Malkhovich (spelt?) and he was a SICK villian so I came up with Sikkisirus LOL :)

anono 09-09-2009 05:20 AM

now i have to pick a picture :)

traderjane 09-09-2009 05:53 AM

My favorite food store is Trader Joe's. At the time I had to come up with a name all I could think about was going to Trader Joe's. But I couldn't have that name because everyone would think I was a male, so I changed it to TraderJane. Not sure I like it now, but I'm stuck with it :)

Ken, I LOVE the Ken doll picture!!! Are you kidding? That is fantastic!

And Anono -- I always thought yours was "Alcohol is A NO NO." Too funny.

traderjane 09-09-2009 06:43 AM

All this talk has inspired me to change my avatar...
