TOPIC: Learning, Growing & Grooming. Rude, Crude & Socially Unexceptable. Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic. By the grace of my HP and the people like u here in SR I havent found it necessary to pick up a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. For that and u I am truely grateful. Whether u r a newcomer just coming into recovery or an old-timer that's been around for awhile we're always learning and growing new and interesting things to better ourselves in sobriety. Old habits that are seemingly rude crude and socially unexceptable can be changed within ourselves which is a part of grooming and growing in recovery. Transforming the unappropriate habits into acceptable ones. I can't take other people inventory on personal rude habits however you know if this applies to you. When we were drinking or using we were in a fog. We do things without realizing that it rude and can place a shadow over our personalities ort he person we would want others to view us as. To clean up these rude crude and unacceptable habits we learn to not do them again. What kind of rude habits do u know of that can be offensive but can be changed to allow u to grow respectably in recovery? An example taught to me as a child was....you can drive an old car but it doesnt have to be dirty and unkept. It can look as good as new if kept clean and polished. You can be a smoker, but u dont have to be gross about it. Flicking ashes all over the place. Clothes smelling smokey. Or u can be a clean smoker. Clean ash trays. Butts placed in garbage cans. Clean fresh clothes. Shower fresh body. You get the picture? :) |
