Thumbs up TOPIC: You Can Live With Ur Disease Or You Can Stop Living

Hi Im Sharon and Im An Alcoholic.

With Strength and guidance for
the Man upstairs and the fellow-
ship of people like u here in SR,
plus 12 step program I havent
found it necessary to pick up
a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and u I am truely
grateful.

You can live with your disease
or you can stop living.

I learned to live with my disease
of alcoholism thru the program
of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Sure I could have died with it
and yes I almost did. A slow
progressive death day by day
each time i took a sip of alcohol.

I came that close to stop living.
That close to dieing. The day
i couldnt do for myself any longer
was the day i died.

My family stepped in with an
intervention sending me to rehab
for 28 days where i recieved the
tools and knowledge of my
disease of alcoholism to set me
on the path of life. Living and
learning one day at a time with-
out the use of alcohol.

I have been blessed with many
awesome gifts over the yrs and
continue today turning my will
and life over to that Power
greater than myself protecting
and guiding all along the way.

I have truely learned to live my
life comfortably with my disease
inteading dieing with it.

How about you?

"You can choose milk cartons filled up with wine, or a life." ~Wonkydonkey

I think that sums it up pretty well for me....

If i pick up a bottle today....it would be watching my life slide away...by staying sober i have a chance to create a life that brings me joy..

I have truely learned to live my
life comfortably with my disease
inteading dieing with it.
I like that....I can't honestly say that i am living comfortably with my disease yet, but i am on my way to that...And for me drinking at this point comes down to a life or death decision and the death might very well be long drawn out and painful.

That sounds a little negative...i have to remember it is choosing life...rather than think about it as choosing not to die....
