hello everyone

This is my first time on this site and I wish to say hi to everyone out there.

Giving up alcohol after so many years of addiction is a scary process and it's good to know I'm not alone and there's people out there who have/are going through the same things that I am. Don't get me wrong the people who I share a house with are very supportive but they just don't get what it's like to be an addict and all that it entails . I could go to AA meetings but the few times that I have been I quickly learnt it wasn't for me, but a fantastic place for those that it is. So a site like this is invaluable, a place where you can share the ups, the downs and the side to sides.

Anyway sorry if this is a bit crap first time nerves and all that so i'll sign off with a big good luck and all the best to everyone whatever stage of recovery they are at.:c032:

Welcome Cpt, You're right about one thing, you're not alone, There's a whole bunch of us drunks who've gone through what you're going through. It's too bad that AA doesn't work for you as it saved my life. But I also realize that it's not for everyone. You'll find a lot of help and support on this site, so don't be afraid to ask for it. Hope you're successful in recovery, and keep us posted on how you're doing.

Capt dont give up on a.a. justt yet, you didnt say what kind of meetings you were going to. Was it for newbies,12 steps, big book. Find a place were you can go to newbies to a.a. ,I know it scary all th opinions, big bookk, 12 steps, als we at a.a have our share of but heads that run new people off.Get a 12 step book, a Big Book and start soaking them in, if you have questions about what you read come back to sr someneone here can help you get on the right track.remember just dont drink today.
