11 Days Sober
Hi Folks,
I've been coming here occasionally over the past 11 days, lurking mainly but learning a lot and you all have been a big help. I felt it was time to come clean and say hi and thanks. Today was the hardest day so far but I'm over it.
I'll be back.

We have about the same sober time...My day was real hard yesterday, and today ups and downs...I'm feeling a little better now than I did earlier...Good luck to you...keep it up.

Thanks Sweets79. My biggest weaknesses/triggers are stress at work or home, plus the 10-15 other daily triggers. I'm better now that I've left the office and I've got a bowl of shelled peanuts in my lap. Hang in there.

Welcome and congrats on 11 days. Keep coming back and reading and posting, it really does help. I'm on day 10 so I can relate to how you're feeling. It does feel good though to get to the end of the day and know you made it thru.

changetime,
If you've been lurking here for a few days, I'm sure that you've read some suggestions about AA involvement. While not the only game in town, the 12 steps of recovery have transformed the lives of many an alcoholic. A number of people on this forum, myself included, would be happy to hear more about your situation and relate with you how they have recovered. That help is available if you desire it.

Thanks keithj. I've considered AA and am not opposed to it in principal but working it into my schedule is tough and apart from a weekly meeting in my area, I'm not that convenient. I'm happy to report that I'm on Day 15 with no real problems. This seems to be going a lot like when I quit smoking over three years ago. I had repeatedly tried to quit unsuccessfully but the last time I was really physically and mentally ready to be done with it and quitting was not nearly as bad as before. I've never tried to stop drinking like this before and I know a relapse is almost likely from what I am reading. For now, I'm happy to know that I actually have more control over this than I thought I had. There's beer in the house and my wife came back tipsy from a wedding last night. Still no 'serious' temptations at all. I appreciate your advice and I would never rule out anything. Thank you so much!!
