Oxford House

I recently moved in an Oxford House. Just curious if anyone has any experience with them, lived in one.

If you don't know what an Oxford House is .......... it is a Self-run, Self-supported Addiction Recovery House. Here's a link to learn more about it.

How long did the process take, Jen? And did you find one in the city where you already live? It looks like a solid sober-living opportunity.

Actually, not long at all.
There is an interview process - basically you're interviewed, asked general questions about your drug or alcohol use and recovery, your means of income or plans to get a means of income, and why you want to move into the house. The house votes and generally gets back to people quickly. In my case it was the same evening. I then had the option to move in pretty much immediately.

I've been here for just over a week. So far it does seem very solid and healthy.

We have quite a few sober living houses around here. I've never been to one but know of other people who are there or been there. I've heard good things and I've heard not so good things. I hope yours is good for you.

In D.C. AA I had many friends who were living in
Oxford Houses ....or who had done so
before gettting settled in other apartments.

I'm really pleased to see you made this decision Jen.
