Sitting at the airport struggling

hey Guys,
I at jakarta airport waiting to fly back to Sydney, this is my first o/s trip since I sober and I dying to go to the bar

bugsworth 04-27-2009 04:05 AM

Hey Marty...it boils down to how much your sobriety is worth to you. Think the first drink to the end and you will have your answer. Stay strong!

marty888 04-27-2009 04:07 AM

I trying i just get terrible anxiety in planes, I made it over here over, so I know I can make it home, Im just scared I suppose

bugsworth 04-27-2009 04:10 AM

Scared is ok...get thru this sober and you won't have to worry about the consequences of drinking.

marty888 04-27-2009 04:12 AM

thanks bugs, I have a meeting tomorrow night when I get back and I just trying to focus on that, I want to be proud that I made it

bugsworth 04-27-2009 04:17 AM

You are in charge of your sobriety...let nothing stand in your way of your goal. Keep your eye on the prize and you just might amaze yourself.

marty888 04-27-2009 04:20 AM

yes you are right, I smoking my butt off, drinking diet coke and reading Michael J Foxs book. I in the coffee shop not the bar!!!
Thanks I just needed to hear a sober voice.
Airports are hell for me

bugsworth 04-27-2009 04:23 AM

I understand I dislike flying myself...I dislike the chaos that drinking causes more. Good job on going to the coffee shop instead! One more hurdle jumped!!!

marty888 04-27-2009 04:27 AM

Yes the chaos of drinking, 1 is too many and 100 is not enough, I will get hope sober, thanks for your thoughts

bugsworth 04-27-2009 04:29 AM

My pleasure Marty! Have a safe trip and be proud of yourself!

marty888 04-27-2009 04:30 AM

Thank you, my battery about to die on the laptop so I will go. You have helped me immensely

This post is absolutely beautiful....it's also a direct example of how SR is my AA.

Marty, I'm the same way in airports. Nothing like airport beer....I don't care how expensive they are. Kudos to you for coming here. Awesome.

Bugs....I damn near cried. Thank you.

Hey Marty want some face to face support next time you are in an air port struggling? Ask them to page a "friend of Bill's" to where you are at, I know more then one person who has done that at an airport and wound up meeting some fantastic folks in the fellowship.

BTW congrats on sticking to sobriety!!!! Every hurdle we clear makes us just a bit stronger when the next hurdle come into view!

bugsworth 04-28-2009 03:12 AM

Good Job Marty! Sometimes we are stronger than we realize!

Hevyn 04-28-2009 04:21 AM

I just now saw this & I commend you Marty for reaching out, & Bugs for your valuable words. As Jules said, SR in action - a beautiful thing.

marty888 04-28-2009 04:47 AM
