I feel great. I do not spend days hungover on the couch. Even on my bad days I accomplish a lot.
Funny this comes to mind. I had these puffy circles beneath my eyes that I KNEW were from drinking but tried to Google another answer. Guess what!
They WERE from drinking and they are GONE!

The first few weeks were very stressful. I came here and I learned and I wrote and wrote and wrote.
I experienced jealousy when someone posted A year...or two or twenty. That was silly. I learned to recognize that each sober day was a victory . And I did not make a big deal out of today....because I fear pride and I want to respect this gift I have been given.

I feel as though I just began....in a way. I just came here and poured my heart out about wanting to quit....and rivers....and obstacles....and pioneers.....
Sigh. I just know this is how I want to live forever.
That's why I came here and you helped me. I thank you!

Thank YOU for sharing your story. I think for many, we have to have blind faith that we will feel better (or at least escape the hell we are stuck in). Threads such as yours resonate peace and satisfaction with life. So many have trouble envisioning a life without alcohol and you have just exemplified that not only can it be done, but that is worth every bit of the effort. Well, well done!

Congratulations on your one year of sobriety. I also had episodes of being jealous when I heard people with many years of sobriety. But a wise person who had years when I had a few weeks told me she has today just like me. That comment touched my soul somehow. Now I'll be at that year mark in close to 2 weeks. Again...congratulations!
