Need help starting over..
Need help starting over..
Hello to everyone. My name is Jamie and I'm new here. I am hoping to meet some fellow drug addicts to help me start the journey out of this hell I've put myself in. I've been around AA for 13 years and have managed to put together a couple years here and there but I've yet to achieve "real" long term sobriety. I haven't drank in quite some time but I have acquired something that seems much more evil.. addiction to Hydrocodone. As a result, I am now in trouble with the law and my problems are piling up so much that it seems impossible for me to get any kind of life back.
Anyway, I'm hoping to connect with others who have been there and have been able to get better.. cause I have to be honest.. I've NEVER felt so hopeless in my life.
I'm looking foreword to meeting everyone .... and thank you for listening.
Jamie

Welcome Jamie! Glad you are here. I know you mentioned AA, but have you ever been/visited an NA meeting before? You are not alone. Also, this place has been a great help to me on my recovery journey too.

Welcome to SR Jamie and congratulations on your desire to achieve long term abstinence.
The forum is typically slower on weekend evenings, so more people will be along to share their experience strength and hope. It may seem impossible to you now, but if you work on a plan to stay committed to sobriety, you WILL get a life back despite everything you are dealing with currently. It will take some time, but it IS possible.
Best wishes

Hi Jamie,
I can totally relate to how you feel, for alcohol made me feel hopeless for years. I'm glad to say that all is not lost and that hopelessness is only a feeling. Even with the obstacles you presently face, it is possible to walk through each problem one at a time and find yourself on the other side of these problems. One thing to consider is talking with you doctor regarding the drug addiction and seek help getting this problem resolved. The legal issues are another area where you can seek counsel and determine what to do. This group is a great place to come for support and encouragement when we feel hopeless. Welcome.

Jamie, Welcome to SR
I really appreciate that helpless feeling and the upside of it is that it has brought you here and wanting help...
there is a lot of great support here and some really good information..
and there are stickies at the top of the page...
keep posting, Jamie... I am glad you have found us...

actually, I just found out there is a NA group about 16 miles from me. Apparently, it just got started.... so I'm going to start going there and I'm excited to know about it! I think that NA is more of what I need at this point and it is one of the big things I've been lacking over these years. It will be nice to go in and be able to talk about my drug problem with others that understand... rather than just go to AA meetings and really be limited as to what I can talk about.
