Good Friday

Rebirth... what is the cost, or the price, of really being born again?

We have to "die" first... that is the price and the reward!

For me, I have still hung on to so much of my "self". Self will, self centeredness... it's been all about me all the freakin' time. This sobriety thing, I often still see it as a sacrifice, or something that others have to accomodate, and it is the end of who I "think" I am. I don't want to "die".

But to be reborn, to live, I have to let go completely... and I must "die" first.

It's scary. It's absolute. I have to trust God completely that I will, indeed,.... rise again.

Hey Mark,

I went to church for Good Friday this afternoon with my family and was the first good friday service I have been for sober in years. All of us you are getting and staying sober are being reborn into a better life right now in this moment. Today was day 40 for me and I must must admit I said a prayer of thanks.

For me..it is dying to self on a daily basis. And sometimes? Moment by moment...

I fail to be the person I know I should be so often. I don't beat myself up..or allow

others to..I look inside to see where I have gone wrong, and make amends when

appropriate.

It is then..that I surrender again..deeper, deeper again. And I find that by surrendering

..I win. My Higher Power has never let me down..not once.

Faith is renewed..and sobriety is strengthened.

Thank you, Mark

Good Friday to you, too.

Thanks Mark, that is a great post and I can def. relate to struggling with turning it over and getting out of myself.

When I lead my first meeting it was on the second step... I talked about faith... those in the meeting shared about trust... trusting your higher power absolutely... how else can you surrender completely...

For the first time, this morning, on Good Friday, of all mornings, I started to really get it... you guys do too... it's nice to be able to share about it here, thanx

Mark
