NEVER too many books! Buying a new house and totally changing your life around to make room for your books sounds perfectly reasonable to me!!! My husbands not laughing about this for some reason....I think he's looking at our groaning bookshelves and thinking about how we are going to have to move now.....

micwush,

It's always a good idea to rent one truck for the furnishings, and another for the books, lol.

Also, be sure to wrap the books in bubble-wrap for protection, and if there's any left, you can do the lamps, crystal and children, lol.

Books Books Books

Hi, I have the same issue with books, but I just found a great website called Swaptree.com

It's a one to one exchange, you mail one, you get one. You get to pick what you want, there don't seem to be any professional book sellers in the crowd the way that there are with the point based web sites. I love it.

Thanks for being here,
Day 4 and going.

Sorry I haven't been around much, I've been busy reading.

Rusty, there were people at this sale with shopping carts full of books and one guy brought his own wagon. I wish I'd had a wagon, lol. The shopping carts just looked tacky in the ligrary.

You're right, it's the first book that gets ya, lol.

Lisa, the hot tub?? Ouch! All those poor whittle books, it just ain't right.

Attyma, the truth is too let go of a book is like pulling teeth with me, it hurts to lose an old friend, so I just need a bigger house, barn, cellar, well, why don't I open my own library, lol. That would be heaven.

Your post reminded me of George Carlin's classic standup routine about the importance of 'Stuff' in our lives. This was from his appearance at Comic Relief in 1986. RIP George 1937-2008

George Carlin "Stuff"

"All your house is, is a pile of stuff with a cover over it"... "You gotta get a bigger house. Why? Too much stuff".

Hey Thanks2HP,

I loved that segment of Carlin, and it's ole so true. So much stuff, so little space. Makes me think twice about "all my stuff." Too bad he passed on.

Have you ever noticed how hard it is to get utensils out of the utensil drawer, cause it's so stuffed with stuff? Or how bout the hall closet? When was the last time the back of the closet was visible, seems like everything ends up there at one time or another. Yep, just too much stuff, lol.

Sounds like you could start your "own" library.......
My private obsession is drawing...or writing....on anything...napkins...inside book sleeves...the back of receipts....etc...
Now if I could just find them all...but I've since taken up photography...thank god for technology...otherwise I'd be swimming in pictures...at least I know where they are!!!
