rode my bike today! instead....

well i rode my road bike 22 miles today- when i would normally start my drinking process. awesome experience. Getting back into that- I am not 100% sober yet but its very close (for those of you who dont know alcohol and prescribed benzos....) - well thats like half pregnant. anyway i am on the right track and it feels great.!!!! Going to do this. need to set a date i know.
Love and best wishes to all- hang tough.

Glad you didn't use! In the NA, I was told "If you're not done, you're not done." I spent from November '08 (when I went to my first meeting) until February '09 not being 100% sober. I know that deal. I'd smoke crack when it was offered to me for free, sneak in a crack binge when I figured no one was looking, or I'd drink or smoke pot. I'd substitute like crazy, and call myself clean to the others in the meetings. It took a lot, but I hadn't reached my point yet. I wasn't ready. I GOT ready in the beginning of February. I think you've taken a great step today and I really hope you continue on the path to true sobriety! It does feel great. Even on my bad days, I remember that I am clean and it can't rain all the time. LOL

Hey dedubya! Glad you are feeling well!

Mind me asking? you mean you are on prescribed benzos AND moderated drinking or just benzos?

That sounds like a fantastic bike ride!

Just be careful, because this disease is relentless.

no prob dude- I am on prescribed benzos (2 klonopin per day) and my drinking i have decided to quit. I really need to quit both- the bike gave me a feeling i havent felt in a long time. used to race 5 yrs ago (mid to back of the pack-not lance) and got sucked into a hole after a broken leg and vikes percs etc (bad bad bad)- maybe some of us know about that. Man what a day. glad to feel somewhat like i should feel.
Love you guys-

Hey Anna-
I have really respected your opinions on here since I started SR- and I know its slippery. I need to start building and I know about relentless- I am relentless in everything i do- including the bad crap, but also the good- time to take over the bad crap.
Love and peace-

Hey Leinina-
trying to hang. the bike ride was a turning point, I really was in a funk this morning and thought i would take a drink to get the edge off (which sucks), then i went for my helmet (which I like to use-- its pretty cool if you can believe that) and the clasp was broken, and came close to saying screw it, then i thought, no, screw this, i am riding and the beer is not going to happen.. Hope you are doing good. I feel really good about this one. Will keep the peeps posted. Wow.

dubs,

Good call on the bike ride vs the beer. I'm doing well, thanks for asking. Hoping to get out to a movie this evening then tomorrow it's back to the painting. I don't know if this place will ever be finished. And now the sink is seriously leaking and needs a plumber.

Ah, good times!

Love,

Lenina

Hey dedubya

glad to hear you are riding... weather stunk today, rode 17 yesterday. I like to go 20-30 on the weekends, sometimes more. Nothing beats the endorphin rush that comes with a good ride... I live around hills and I like a good climb. Weather has been off and on.

I got out of shape at rehab, late in my active disease, getting it back now. I never raced, but rode often with some cat 3s... just their training rides, which were vigorous ...

What kind of ride do you have? Also, whatever happened to Bike4Life??

Mark

Hey Cubile-
Havent heard from Bike4 lately. My bicycle is a Pinarello Prince SL, the terrain around here is rolling hills with a few decent climbs - but close by are many nice climbs - just not my regular ride.
catch you later-

Sweet bike... I ride a Klein Quantum... I'm 6'2" and I like the stiff frame.

Hope you ride again soon!

Okay, I'll try to come back more often. It's great being on a bicycle. Been training with the ConocoPhillips Bike Club and we'll be going on the MS150 from Houston to Austin next weekend. And I'm somewhat hestant because I wanna pack my booze in my suitcase for the shipment to my overnight rest stop. Otherwise, this won't be a good restless night and I'd still have to ride another 70 miles the next day.
