My first invite..

It's been almost a month since I stopped drinking.. I just ran into an old friend here in the Capitol. He was going to a local bar where we used to hang out, drink and shoot pool.. He invited me over for a few drinks.. I told him I quit drinking..

I thought it was going to feel awkward to tell someone that I quit drinking. (My family and close friends already know) But instead it felt great hearing those words come out of my mouth !!

Shawk,

Great job. I used to be afraid of telling people I quit drinking, but now I am proud of it. If anyone asks why I say "health reasons". Truer words were never spoken, it has been great for my health.

Well done Shawk, almost 1 month, thats some awesome stuff man. Keep up the good work. When people ask me to come out and drink with them I also say I quit because of health reasons. Most people understand...

I quit for an all around better life...

Were you able to hang out with him and shoot pool? Just wondering.

The more you say it....the better you feel. Seriously.

Congrats man. I have yet to run into someone who doesnt almost wish they were me when I tell them I have stopped drinking. I think secretly a lot of people wish they had the inner strength to just never pick up a drink again.

Maggot4Life 04-04-2009 01:26 AM

So true, you need serious inner strength and a strong will to quit otherwise your wasting your time.

"I thought it was going to feel awkward to tell someone that I quit drinking."

Well, I do feel odd when I'm with my old pals and not drinking. But KNOW it is a life choice. Like eating meat or not. Life choice.
