How long have you been sober/clean
today?
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and u I am truely grateful.

I often hear someone say in a meeting
that they have been sober since whatever
time they got up that morning. Then id say
my time. Then they would say pleasantly
that they may be sober longer than me
depending on whatever time i got up that
day.
Sometimes its nice to be the one that may
have a few minutes more sober than the
other guy.
Made me feel kinda good inside and want
to continue getting up and seeing how
long i can stay sober one hour or day
at a time.

Looking at it poetically I can say that the first day of my sobriety was the "first day of a new life" which I am still living in. Some day the sun will go down on that life but as of now it is still shining. In fact, it is still the morning of that day and I have much more time to spend living and learning in that day.
Sober time doesn't matter that much to me. The 3,6,9 and 12 month milestones feel good and are to be celebrated, but having said that, I see each passing day without alcohol as a milestone.
Thanks Sharon.
I dedicate my 500th post to you Sharon. Why? Just cuz.

I've been sober since 8.30am and now it 8.54pm.
I think.
It's the end of daylight saving here
and at my house we are a bit confused
as to whether the clock goes forward or back.
I say back, he says forward and the kids just shaking his head at both of us.

Haha, this thread could mess up my count! You see, the first day I chose not to drink was NOT the first day I woke up sober. . .
My first 24 of not picking up began waking fairly drunk, and suffering through the first day of a 3 day hang over!
First day I spent where I felt completely clean and sober might have been like a week after I quit drinking
