Day 9 is coming to a close, Day 10 will be my biggest challenge yet.

My wife is going out tomorrow night for a mom's night out. She wont be home till around 9:30 or 10. THis has always been a night where I would put the kids to bed around 7PM then start pounding back beers. I really really really dont want to drink tomorrow, but I am afraid I will. I will probably just stay on here till she gets home and make sure I can stay sober. Besides, I am taking Antabuse and I will get pretty sick if I drink. I know some people who have still drank on it and they were able to get through the symptoms and keep pounding. I did hear back from the lacrosse coach and the next league starts up in June so I do have motivation to get in shape over the next 2 months. I guess I will have to get ready for battle tomorrow. A battle with myself.

I can relate to this post very well, used to love to pound the beers when the wife was out and the kids were asleep. You have been strong days you can do 10 easy. Remember its a habit and are used to drinking when she is out. That does not mean you HAVE to though. Dont throw your 9 days away. Also dont run the risk of drinking on Antabuse, from what I hear it can cause some serious problems, you have to be responsible for the kids while your wife is out and you cant do that if you take ill from the beers and antabuse.
Stay strong mate.

You can do it........think of it as something you used to do. Now you want something more. Make a plan!! Do you have any non-drinking friends?

Hey, C! You CAN do this. I, too, would see the "opportunity" if no one was around. I totally agree to change your habits. I don't know how old your children are, but why not plan a "fun" night with them: movies, popcorn, hide and go seek. By the time you realize it, the night will have passed, you will have made it 10 days, AND you will have connected with your kids! See this as a positive opportunity that you can use to help yourself!

PLS DO NOT DRINK ON ANTABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Google it and look for info on the consequences (don't rely on what someone may have told you). The side effects, at BEST, are awful, and at worst, life threatening. What if you went into some kind of toxic reaction? There would be no one there BUT your kids. Play that tape through and imagine the worst and then, imagine the consequences...(Having been on Antabuse, this is what I would do, if ever tempted, and it worked) It is NOT worth it.

Wow. That is why I love this site. After reading everyone's posts, I have little to no desire to drink tonight. I will probably be on here tonight trying to make the time go by. I hope some of you will be around.

I find coming here works for me C.
Just reading a newcomers story takes me back to my first post and how I felt when I wrote it. I sometimes go back and read it and it makes my resolve even stronger.
Keep at it and if you do get the urge to drink come on here and someone will talk you out of it.

Temptations will always be there testing us...Reach out for support, and remain confident that you can beat the craving...

You can do this.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I had 2 beers tonight then through out a case. I have no enjoyment from drinking anymore. I think i needed to see this for myself. I dont think i want to start my count over, but I will just call this a little hiccup. I am happy this happened and I can move on. It would be nice to talk to some of you tonight though.

Well, Glad you are still here and posting!!

I remember the first couple of months, when my wife was away, I made sure that there was absolutely no alcohol around the house...

Didn't you get sick, what with the antabuse?

Mark

C23,

How did you get a case of beer in the house? I'm not trying to be confrontational, I want to understand.

Love.

I didnt get sick and I bought the beer thinking it would be a good idea to drink. I was wrong and poured it all out.

You're on anabuse? OK, I'm really glad you poured it out. It's best not to have alcohol in the house. Do you have a plan for next time?

Love,

Lenina
