Brain doing 120 in 3rd gear

For 3 weeks now l have not had alcohol and/or benzo's.
My body feels fine, but my mind is racing and l can't stop it.
l sleep bad and have disturbing dreams.
l think my subconcious is trying to tell me something.
Has anyone had the same ?
Advice is very welcome.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked."Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.""How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice."You must be," said the Cat, "or your wouldn't have come here."

That was my experience too Penny, it doesn't last too long.

I was told in the early days that, 'no one dies from lack of sleep.'

The dreams were quite distrubing tho..writing them down on paper helped 'get them out of my head.'

3 weeks is fantastic.

Penny I experienced the same thing, from what I hear it is pretty common. What helped was simply time & working on me. I am in AA & the further I got into taking the steps, learning who I was and cleaning up the wreckage of my past the better I got. Another thing that helps a lot is not living in the past or the future, we have no control over them so why worry about them. Just stay in the day, when you lay down at night, just go over that day and how great it was to not drink and all the things that went right.

I know what ya mean. The first couple of days I slept like a baby. Now, It takes over an hour to get to sleep, then I have the craziest dreams.

I'm with ya.

Keep up the sobriety.
