TOPIC: Where Was Or Is Your Playground? Where Did or Do You Hang Out At?
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the Grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and you I am truely
grateful.
In recovery we learn about
people, places and things.
People we use to hang out with.
Friends, co-workers.....
Places we use to go to for
fun....Clubs, street corners,
friends homes......
Things that would drag us
back out to those playgrounds....
Drugs, alcohol, fix......
Where did you use to go? Or,
are you still going there altho
you know it's bad for you.
Where is ur playground now
if u r clean and sober?
I use to go to a favorite club
once or twice a week to be
around others that enjoyed
drinking like I did...the lights,
music, excitement.
Of course that was some 18
yrs ago, when alcohol became
poisonous to me and almost
took my life.
An attempt failed i entered
rehab via the back of the
police car.
My 28 day stay in rehab set
me on the path of recovery
living the principles set down
before me.
My playground today does
not include a club with music
, those so called friends or
alcohol.
It's in a loving home filled
with love, honesty, trust
and sobriety.

Well..Thank goodness my hang outs are in 2 different states. And the one here is about a 30 min drive. So I am grateful to not be in the face of it.
I do still talk to a very select few I have met out there. But they are like family and are behind me 100%. And they live in other states.
Now the only playground I plan on going to is the one I take my lil cousins to. A huge wood castle park me and my cousins..(lil cuz's parents) use to play on all the time when we were little. Generations are cool when you can share some things you did when you were younger.
I do still talk to a very select few I have met out there. But they are like family and are behind me 100%. And they live in other states.

My hangouts were a group of about 15 bars just off campus. It's about 6 blocks from my house (yet another reason I can't wait to move out of this place). I got high at BF's apartment, too, but we're not dating anymore. There's one friend's apartment we'd get drunk at and do drugs, and I still go say hi to him occasionally, but he still drinks excessively (I'm not one to pass judgment but I consider a 30-pack per night "excessive" for people I am willing to hang out with) and I don't ever stay long because there's always alcohol available. My other hangout is a few cities away, luckily, at my old dealer's house. He always had killer, so it was worth the drive. But one of my friends (a girl I met about 10 years ago who I don't think has had a drop to drink in her entire life) moved about 6 blocks from him. The first couple times I went to visit her it was horrible and I asked her to meet me somewhere else now so I'm not so close... too tempting.
Now my hangout is SR, pretty much. I don't do much. I kinda miss going out and meeting people, but I have to have alcohol in my system to feel comfortable around that many people so I'd rather be a loner I guess.
