So my curiosity is getting the best of me...

I was wondering for all those who would like to share with me

why is it that some chat and some dont.....I guess I will go first...

I use the chat room for many things...
~when its really late and I need some company or advice...
~when Im sad and need a virtual hug
~when I feel like Im not fitting in, in the forums
~when I cant sleep...
~when I feel like helping someone else feel better

and many other reasons....what are your reasons?

I don't use chat because I'm a little paranoid about being connected through.....is it....java? Whatever it is, I have misgivings about that....I would feel exposed.

I don't 'do' chat cause I'm not into texting at all. For 'real time' conversations i'd rather talk on the phone instead of typing my responses and trying, unsuccessfully, to keep up with more than one person with typing instead of talking. I'm a fairly quick typist, but not as quickly as I can talk.

So chat 'bothers' me cause I can't keep up and much prefer 'voice' communication over typing/texting-type communication.

Chat evokes unease and frustration, at least, it has the times I've tried it. (on another forum)

did that make any sense?:wtf2 It's hard to describe my feelings...

I can no longer read print...my Zoom program that is
my tool for the net....is not compatible with Chat.

I have a hard time keeping up due to OCD stuff (going back, re-reading, etc.), but I occasionally brave it anyway.

I use to go in there all the time..It died down for a little while and just stopped goin.
Plus I dont know anyone in there anymore.

For me, txting and emailing was the preferred method of 'communication' of my addict ex. Seems to be a forum for folks that haven't quite gotten a hold of the sobriety thing, IMO. Too much quacking, not enough doing.

Two kids, busy life etc. It always seems that as soon as I sit down to the computer my kids or husband need something. Since my children are younger, they come first. On the forums I can come back and post after I have taken care of the kids or DH.
