Thumbs up TOPIC: Let's Take A Trip. Where Are We Going?

Hi, Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

Been sober since 8-11-90 be following
the steps and principles set down in
our recovery program of Alcoholics
Anonymous.

Hey, let's take our first sober trip together.

Pack your bags, car or motorcycle, boat
with what you need for a day, week,
or months trip.

Where would you like to go?

If you already took ur first sober trip,
where did you go? Where's ur next trip
going to take you?

Ive taken a few nice trips sober with my
family to the Grand Canyon all the way up
to Montana....seeing lots of neat things
inbetween. Been to Chicago all the way
up to Maine to dipping into New York.

Today im still sober and have a new marriage,
another new beginning and ready to hit the
road.

Motorcycle or car....im ready....

The first trip my new husband and I want to
go to is to the Grand Canyon for our honeymoon.

The first time i went with my first marriage,
i was dealing with a chemical inbalance
and thus made that trip miserable.

I want to experience it once again this time
with a new partner and my chemical imbalance
under control.

I cant wait to head out......Let's goooooooo.

I want to go to Alaska, but my wife wants Hawaii. What is wrong with her? How could you prefer a warm island paradise with beautiful landscapes and awesome beaches to freezing temperatures and snow?

Hey wait a minute...she might be on to something.

Hi Sharon,

The Grand Canyon sounds great to me, anything with nature, beauty and a healthy lifestyle would be nice. Places like that make it easier for me to feel connected to God and enhance my spirituality. The last place I would go is a place where the main activity and theme revolves around alcohol. Last time I went to Cancun I remember free beer with every activity from bus rides, sailing, etc. If you drive from Louisiana you can catch the beauty of the New Mexico and the desert of Arizona.

Enjoy and celebrate, you deserve it!

A truck trip with my wife....to the beaches of south west Florida, stopping along the way to see the sights with NO time pressure.....then on to a remote beach cabana somewhere in Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands for a month.

Just time together enjoying each others company, the sunsets, and relaxing without the pressures of society.

ahhh.

I want to go to Norway cause I have family there. Distant relatives, but still family. And my eldest daughter went there fifteen years ago and said it was beautiful. So I want to go too.

I would love to go to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, The Great Smokey Mountains with my Mom, Son and his Girlfriend. The first time I was in Gatlinburg I was about 6 or 7 years old but I have a great deal of memories. My second husband and I went there on our Honeymoon and a few other times for the weekend.

I was active in my addiction everytime that I went,(except when I was a little girl lol) but even then, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the mountains, the smells of clean air and an all round feeling of peace. I would love to have an afternoon to myself though in the mountains, take a blanket and find a beautiful isolated spot to sit and talk to God.

I have been overwhelmed with gratitude since I surrendered in July of 2005, even when many not so happy events were going on in my life. One day I want to be able to literally stand on a mountain top and just yell at the top of my lungs, "I'm free!" I think Gatlinburg would be the ideal setting for this.

Wonderful thread idea!

God Bless,
Judy

Fun Thread!!!! I'd love to go somewhere warm where we can relax, swim, maybe go horseback riding, read in a hammock =) Hubby wants to take me to St.Lucia this year for my birthday, if that doesn't work out, maybe Key West~

The smell of the ocean, sand, sun....that's my nature =)

I want to go all across Canada. It is the most beautiful country in the world. It has the friendliest and coolest people in the world. The fishing is great. The theatre district In Toronto is world class. The rocky mountains are some of the most amazing in the world.

This message bought to you by the unofficial tourist board of Canada.

I would definitely enjoy a trip to Alaska, Antarctica....anywhere where the temperature is below 35 degrees farenheit. By nature I can't stand heat at all and love the cold (the colder the better). So living here in VA just a matter of minutes from Virginia Beach and the Atlantic Ocean...too hot for me, so a cold place would be a perfect vacation spot.

While I think everyone has some really beautiful destinations in mind, I'm just a bit puzzled why no one wants to come to my hometown. I mean, here in Dayton, we do have a few McDonald's that have indoor playgrounds, there's also a mall that has a glass elevator in it! That's at least picture worthy! lol

I was told that I have choices now that I am in Recovery and today, I just choose to be silly!

Thanks,
Judy

our first sober trip was in N.Myrtle beach,SC to a AA convention in 1988
we have been to the beach many times, and the mountains many times, and several years ago we hit Florida and had a blast.
Santa Rosa Island was pretty, but unfortunately they had not completely rebuilt from some hurricanes..
this year it looks like Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge
I would really like to go to Gettysburg Battlefield,in Pa some day,but my big hope is Israel and specially Jerusalem
