I've been reading the thread the past couple of days, not posting, because this is honestly the hardest thing for me to answer! When I was younger and I would say positive things about myself people would tell me "Stop being so conceited!" so I stopped and began to belittle myself instead. Good, huh? lol Anyway, after much thought, what do I like about myself?
I like that I love fiercely, I'm very loyal, funny, smart. I'm always there for my Friends and Family when they need me. I'm a good wife and mother~
I'm not perfect, I have a lot of flaws. But I"m learning to love all of me, good or bad =)

Thanks Mariposa!
It's a middle school book, but the message is for all ages! I found that same quote in one of Melody Beattie's books, and then ordered a copy of "Hope for the Flowers". Happy Reading!

I like the new life I'm finding that's available to me if I don't drink. I like the me that was floating in the bottom of the cesspool of alcoholism for so many years. It's sad that we often kill the very spirit that we were born with by attempting to blot ourselves out with alcohol.
I like that I can appreciate a beautiful sunrise, or sunset, the time doesn't matter today, it's all good.

I love my eyes. I really love my sense of humor and the way I was independent before I got hooked on crack. I look forward to the day that I can get back to myself. It's unfortunate how I lost the weight, but I do like the way I look now. Always say I don't like how I lost it, but I do like that it's gone. I like being smart (usually, LOL), funny, and love that I love to play with cars too. hehehe
I like that I am less judgmental than some people (judgmental bastards! LOL-- joke!).
I like that I am less selfish than I used to be, more caring than I used to be. I like that I can learn from things that happen now, the phrase "live and learn" did not apply to me at one time, at all.
I have the cutest feet ever and am willing to prove that, Trucker!
I am also modest.

What do I like about me????
Well I mainly like the fact that I am comfortable in my own skin, warts and all! I see my faults today, I work on them, I do not hate who I am today, I like the new me, far from perfect, but a lot better then I used to be. I accept who I am today, I like me, there are things about me I do not like, but I continue to work on them and seem to be getting a bit better most days.
I like that I am a father today in my childrens eyes, a husband in my wifes eyes, a trusted honest friend in my friends eyes.
I like that I am not the center of the universe, but simply a part of the world, some one who can help when asked and able to tell if I can help or not.
I like that it is no longer all about me, but about being of maximum service to those in need.
I could have none of the above with out sobriety and a guiding force in my life.

I will have to say..
The respect of my family..(the love never was lost..they were just waiting for me to
"come home").
I have friends now. Face to face friends.
And so many more here. :ghug2:
It doesn't say so much about me..but about recovery.
My friends before were the bottle, the pills, and the slot machines.
My family..tossed aside.
Thank God for recovery!
