Bizarre Dreams
Bizarre Dreams
I have always had a lot of dreams, and think of myself as being pretty sensitive in general... My dreams are often really symbolic seeming (i.e. tidal waves, being at the top of buildings that are tipping over, floods, etc.). I am wondering what others have experienced in the way of dreams during their drinking. I had a truly horrible one about 3 weeks ago that I can't shake out of my head. I was driving by myself on a country road after being given a free pass by my husband to take a day to myself. The road was in the forest, so I had no idea of the elevation gain until I got to a point where the trees cleared and I realized I was on a road that had an extremely high (unrealistically high) cliff on one side and no guard rail. It was so terrifying because I realized that there was no way out except to drive on the same road back down... this time on the opposite side of the road nearer the cliff.
I know hearing other peoples' dreams can be annoying at times, but I felt like this dream was an obvious analogy to my drinking, and my body and mind trying to send a message to me. I did listen, and I'm trying to quit again. Has anyone else experienced a "telling" dream about their drinking? I'd be interested to hear.

Hmm my drinking dreams are not subtle at all. In fact i had one last night where i had a drink, had a toke on a joint and was gambling in a casino! Fortunately i am getting to smile at them now when i wake up and be pleased i am sober rather than a couple of months ago when it really bothered me.
I've been having really crazy, vivid dreams at night. I wake up thinking...where the heck did that come from? And sometimes they just stay with me all day.
I used to have two recurring dreams. One was my teeth were falling out and I was trying to spit them out. My husband would wake me up wondering what the heck i was doing, cuz I was actually trying to spit my teeth out. The other dream I would be in an elevator and couldn't get out and it would go upside down and all around throwing me all over the place, I would be frantic trying to get out.
I think the more stressed out I am, the weirder my dreams get...
Strange what our brains do at night.....

I have lots of bizarre dreams. A bit freaky but nothing nightmarish. I haven't had a drinking dream in a while but those are actually kinda cool to get. Because when I wake up I start thinking oh s**t! I had a damn relapse. But once my mind clears a bit and realizes it was a dream it's a huge sigh of relief! At least I know then that I'm still being serious about recovery!
