Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
Have you seen that commercial
with the orange "HUNGER" Monster?
Cute isnt he? lol
Well, when hunger strikes at you,
what do you do?
He comes around you all day long
sabataging ways to make you eat
things that are not healthy for you.

I had to stop buying bad stuff, if it's not here I wont eat it (ha.. sounds familiar to drinking!). No more buying cookies or candy, no peanut butter, etc...
I keep healthy snacks around me all the time, drink a lot of water and tea, and sometimes coffee. A little juice and a good workout usually help me to focus on eating something healthy too..

I joined another thread here for OS (Obvious Sugars) users. We help each other avoid sugary foods by offering encouragement and support. It helped me avoid the fudge I was tempted with yesterday. Without them I would have bought a couple of pounds and would have just been finishing it right now. I always liked to save a small piece for the morning after. I am 15 days OS free thanks to my support group here at SR.
Thanks OS free group. I wouldn't have made it this far without you.

For now..I let the hunger win. As I always do for the first month or 2 of getting back into being clean.
But after a month or 2. It sorta goes away on its own. And I am a little more comfortable with myself to not need that crutch.
And as more time passes. I do becomne more aware and practice better eating habits.
But when I am first coming out of a relapse. Which is all the time it seems. I cant overwhelm myself with more than I have to.

I am worried about going to treatment and being stuck in a hospital for a month and doing nothing but eat and sit around. Thats going to be hard. Like I need to gain anymore weight.
When ur in treatment take advantage
of the excersie equipement if available.
I know when i went thru rehab there was
swimming, badmitting and a track to
run or jog on. I remember sweating
alot probably due to getting all those
toxins out of my system and pores.
Study the foods u have available....
stick to the salads with little dressing,
peel skin off chicken, bake potato instead
of fries, salsa, mustard is good and pepper
for spice. Low fat, sugar free drinks, preferably
lots of water. This would be a good way
to lose weight while beginning ur new
recovery journey.
Come away from rehab a winner . Take
the tools and knowledge of ur disease
as they will teach u about and begin
to share it with all those newcomers
coming in after u.
If you need a miracle, become a miracle.
You'll be fine. Stay strong, and know u
never have to go thru anything alone or
by urself.

The reahab I am goin to is one hallway of a hospital. Thats it. Its like pullin teeth to get any of the counselors to even take us for a walk through the hospital. The food is all you want almost. I am goin to be taking some snacks with me. I love banana chips. So I will beatking alot of those and some cajun trail mix.
That's what I did. They wanted me
to leave at 2 weeks but knew i wasnt
gonna stay sober. That was when
they suggested a halfway house out
of state. I turned it down quickly
and asked if i could stay the 28 days
along with a 6 week outpatiant aftercare.
I wanted to stay there so i wouldnt
be sent away from my lttle ones.
I took that choice and ran with it.
Applied my self with help and stayed
in the day.
I hope you do well.

Where is that orange "hunger" monster
now?
Is he right near by while u r watching
tv?
How about sneeking around ur computer....
peeping over? Hmmmm....
Whatcha gonna do with him?
Hug him? Kiss him? Slap him?
capture him? Put him out the door?
Sit down with him for a bite to eat?
Strength or weakness is calling.
