moving from sponsor to grandsponsor

I've learned a whole lot from my sponsor but I've come to realize I can not say that I want what she has.

My grandsponsor is amazing and more like who I'd like to become. She's been where I'd like to be in my recovery.

My sponsor is going through a rough time and has become pretty unavailable, too, but the bottom line is that I'd be doing myself a great disservice if I don't switch.

I feel guilty and dont know how to go about the process of moving. Feels like cheating on her. What are the politics of this? How can I proceed?

Thanks.

As your current sponsor is busy with her personal life...
it may be to her advantage too.

Or perhaps the 2 of them could co-sponsor you for awhile?

I suggest you ask your grandsponsor how to proceed
as she knows the 2 of you.

Welcome to SR!

its ok to move on...after all we are responsible for our own recovery.

When I needed to change sponsors it was suggested to me to keep it short and simple.
It was suggested to me to say "I appreciate what I have learned while using you as my sponsor. I need to let you know I am moving on."

and that's it! No explanation is necessary for the next right thing to do. You don't need to justify it....reality doesn't need a justification.

I agree with Carol on asking your grandsponsor how to proceed.

Congrats on your decision and all the best to you on your journey,
Missy

ask for help.......just as you are!

and the suggestion of asking your grandsponsor sounds like a good one, fearlessly.
