sad news today

I found out that someone I know was shot and killed today. My first reaction is to go out and getting something to drink so that I won't have to feel anything or deal with it, but I haven't done that yet. I'm just really sad right now.

That is awful, I am sorry for your loss.
As you know, drinking will only make matters worse.

Seeme....

I'm so sorry!!!! I'm glad you posted instead of the "alternative"!!! This has got to be so hard on you right now! Please please pleeeeease... Don't drink over it! You're doing so good girl, and it's not going to help your grief... Only accelerate it and make it worse! PM me, K?

Praying for you and for your friends family and loved ones! :praying

And I am sorry too..

Hurting yourself by drinking won't help. You will grieve now, or later.

It has to happen..a human experience common to us all.

Please do get as much support as you can here, and with others

who understand and support your efforts to stay sober.

You have my prayers.

And again, my condolences for this tragedy.,

the loss of your friend.

It's natural for your first instinct to be to numb the pain, after all, that's what we're used to doing. But you know that won't bring your friend back nor will it make the pain go away. Drinking will only leave you with the guilt and shame that we all work so hard on getting over and letting go.

I lost my Dad since I have been in Recovery as well as several friends and I know it's hard. I hope you will continue to share with us how you're feeling. We do care!

Hugs and Prayers,
Judy

I'm also sorry to hear of your loss. What a shock it must have been to you. I hope you won't drink over it as drinking would only make you feel worse.
