Wink so i'm new here...

Hello all. I'm a 28 year old artist. My boyfriend of 10 months is an alcoholic and currently in rehab. I'm mainly here to find out the best ways to support him in his time of need. Once he gets out, I'm going to encourage him to join this site as well. He's one week sober and has officially joined AA. I couldn't be more proud.
Let me know if you have any tips on good books to read or things I could do to best support him. Tips on what not to do are welcome as well. Thank you for your time.

Check out the friends and family forum, and read the stickies, and keep posting. There is a lot of good support here.

I hope that you find support for yourself by using our Friends & Families forums or by joining AlAnon.

I'm glad you found us.

Hi Nixx, welcome to SR! Yes, please check out the F&F forums here and keep the focus on your recovery too. Al-Anon and CoDA meetings might be helpful, keep reaching out for support.

Sounds like he's got a good start of support from you nixx... who deeply cares for him...I can tell you that having the support of my wife has been priceless for me, not to mention SR and my friends here on this great site.

Give him a hug for me....manly hug that is.

God bless.

Glad you joined us. Something that was really nice for me is my husband wrote me little encouraging notes saying how proud he was of me and left them on the bathroom mirror so I would see it first thing in the morning.

A lot of literature out there, first name that comes to mind is Melody Beattie. Amazon and most chain bookstores will carry her books.

WELCOME!!!

Hi Nixx,

Pay particular attention to the how not to enable him part. My wife did and it worked.
