16 Days, how do I feel?

I will tell you truthfully and honestly.
I feel great.

My desire to drink is totally absent. I have grown in spirit and mind.
I love life! I love God!
I hold my head high now! I respect myself! I command respect from others!
I am in charge of myself and my surroundings.
I came to understand that I can not drink alcohol I am powerless over it.
Without it I have all the power I need.
It's being able to sleep without regret, its waking up knowing what happened last night. It's the simple things like seeing a rose and seeing the awesomeness about it. It's not taking life for granite.
It's feeling great from the moment you wake up.
it's not worried about NEEDING a drink.
it's about being FREE
it's about being human
it's about realizing that the days are separate from each other and they don't all just mesh together.
it's about not having to use the words"I'm sorry" because you were drunk and did something stupid.
it's about all the love and support you receive becoming sober.
Most of all I am alive and can smell the roses and it's not over, as a matter of fact it's just the beginning of my life.
I have been fortunate enough to have lived a few different lives, the drug addict, the Alcoholic, and now the real life.
I am sad the other lives lasted as long as they did, But I wouldn't change anything I have knowledge that only would come from living it.

The formula for sobriety success = The will to want a better life
SR and AA. very simple

Yes, it is true, sometimes we have to go through a lot of stuff, to reach a place of self-acceptance and peace in our lives. I think it's about being human.

Recovery is an amazing journey and I'm so glad that you're doing well!

That pretty much sums me up on day seven. I'm not cured yet but today I can hold my head high, I feel good and I don't want a drink. And I think that is enough for now.

Thanks for the post HWF!

Congratulations on the 16 days Hardwired!!! I'm glad you feel so good and I'm so happy and ecstatic for you. You're very positive and encouraging to me. I'm not too far behind ya (with 11 days) and I'm already starting to feel great. I'm glad to be in the recovery process with you. And congratulations for you again as well as I'm so happy for you and that you're feeling so good.

Hi.. I love your post. I am 18 days sober and I'd like your advice because I really liked what you said. You talked about commanding respect. Any suggestions on how I can do that? I know I gave ppl good enough reason to disrespect me when I made a drunk mess out of myself, but now that I'm sober I still find it hard to get the respect I know I deserve. I feel like I'm stuck in this dumb blonde role permanently, whether drunk or sober. Any advice you have would be much appreciated. Thanks.
