reasons for staying sober

We can always dig up a couple of hundred reasons to drink today if we wanted.
What reasons do you find for staying sober today?

one reason I want to stay sober is I hate getting sick and throwing up.
Thats not cool.
I would much rather just hang loose and let the day flow and not get sick.
How about you?

My reason for staying sober today:

I am able to get more accomplished while sober, especially without a hangover!

Hangovers
Anxiety
Panic
Regrets
Shame

Are just a few of the reasons why i don't ever want to pick up another drink for the rest of my life. I'm more suited to being a happy go lucky upbeat kind of guy.

I have less anxiety. And when I do have anxiety, I am not scared of it. I'm learning to listen to my emotions instead of drowning them.

I'm more productive and my house is cleaner.

I can see that I'm still a little crazy but it doesn't scare me like it used to. It just is what it is.

Reasons for staying sober:
Waking up without grabbing the morning drink for a hangover
Family looking at me as a person instead of "just some drunk"
Feel better
More energy
Can remember what I did and who I talked to
Not passing out at 11pm to wake up at 1am for another drink
In a happy and better mood and not angry all the time

Being a responsible employee
Consistency with my friends- no dr. jekyll/miss hyde moments
No more humiliating myself with unwise emails and telephone calls
Paying creditors on time (no more calls from collection)
Remembering all the hours of the day- I'm not losing parts of my life to blackouts
Confidence that _all_ of my internal organs are functioning fairly well- even my liver!
Driving myself when I go out with friends because I know I'll be in a condition to drive myself home. I'm in control!
Earning my self respect back... Learning who I really am and generally, some of the time, liking that person.

When I'm dead, I want my granddaughter to remember me
with fondness, not as some drunken old man.

I will not drink today.

I made a list. I won't go into detail but basically:

1. I'll save a ton of money.
2. Tired of ruining my health. Sure my liver is half shot by now.
3. Tired of being tired. I could no longer sleep.
4. Need to be a better influence to my kids.
5. I want a better quality of life. Sheesh, I wouldn't even go to the movies because they don't sell beer there.

reasons to stay sober.......ahhh......how long you got.

My favourites..

Freedom for unfounded fears and anxiety...

Freedom from self loathing..

The ability to sleep without the need to sedate....

The ability to hold my head up and not be full of shame and remorse.

The ability to reach out to the still suffering....just to say.."it is possible"

and as a bonus my liver is a normal size.........

Thats me...............trucker..

Today I have chosen to stay sober because...
...I dont want to make 10 phone calls tonight and not remember them tomorrow
...I dont want to get so overwhelmed emotionally while drunk that I cut myself
...I want to be able to get a god nights sleep, without the cold sweats
...I want to continue to rebuild my self respect

Peace

I love not being consumed with alcohol.
I love that I have nothing to hide anymore, I can be completely open and honest.
I mostly love finally being proud of myself!

warts and all

My reasons for staying sober are:

1. My marriage will end if I continue to drink
2. I don't want my kids growing up thinking it is acceptable to drink every single night
3. I don't want to continue a battle with Pancreasitis
4. I want to lose 40lbs and look the way I did when I met my wife
5. I will be better at my job
6. I can be more helpful around the house
7. My skin is better
8. I save money
9. No anxiety attacks
10. No puking in the morning

I have a million more, but I figured I would start with 10
