Need someone to help me through it!

Going to quit Oxy, I ruptured a disc in my back 4 years ago and have been on it ever since. In a few days I am going to run out and I am going to stop (I hope) I have been tapering down trying to get ready for what is coming. Here is the deal, my wife can't know and I can't go to a doctor either as I can't have it in my medical records period. So I have to do it on my own. What I was maybe hoping for is maybe having someone with both emails and phone calls to help me through the hard times. I have tried before, I felt so alone as the war raged on in my body and when I get to where I can't take it anymore I just need someone to talk to that understands me and what I am going through. I am planning on doing this when my work week starts Sunday night. I work the third shift alone (thank god) and by the time I get home my wife has left for work already. So for me the best time to do this will be this work week. That way I can go through it without seeing very many people. So if you are the type that is up all night and has no life at the moment. Maybe you could be the one to help make the difference for me. Or we could do it together and quit at the same time.

Welcome to SR. IMHO, you really should consult a doctor with what your body is about to go through. Whether you decide this is correct or not, we will be here to support you.

Thank you! It is nice to hear some encouraging words already! My back has been fixed for the last three years and it has just been about abuse for me. Some things about me: I am a 44 year old male and I live in CT. Wherever you live you can see my work from your home (TV). I just figure that it would be cool to do it with someone else at the same time or at least be able to correspond with someone who has been down the road before to give me words of encouragement at the critical times. For me the worst thing is RLS. I hate that! It's the worst, it will wake me out of a sleep and I will have to feed the monkey if I want to get back to sleep. I was up to about 160mg of Oxycontin a day but I am down to 40 to 60 a day now. I just want my life back.

You are right! There is nothing I would rather do than see a doctor over this. But for me, I just can't have it in my records. If there is some place I could go and it is private and discrete then maybe. But to go to my own doctor is just out of the question. Thanks!

I am a recovering opiate/cocaine addict, 142 days clean. I know what you're about to go through...Before rehab, I was taking 30 10mg hydrocodone or oxycodone per day. I'd been on these pills for more than 10 years. Are you sure you want to do this on your own? You need to get on Suboxone if at all possible. If you can afford to go to a pain management/addiction specialist...do it 'self pay. If you don't use insurance and go to a new doctor, that will help you remain "incognito".

Thanks for the advice! But, for now I am going to have to tough it out. At 142 days clean, do you still crave it? This time tomorrow, I will be climbing the walls! I won't be able to give in because I won't have anything to take anyway. Making it through the first day doesn't bother me, it's the second and THIRD! We will see.......
