TOPIC: Years Of Learned Behavior Takes Years Of Learned Changes. Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic. By the grace of my HP and people like you here in SR I havent found it necessary to pick up a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. For that I am truely grateful. Years of learned behavior takes years of changed behavior. Year after year of constant drinking becomes learned behavior. Right? Well, from the first day I stopped drinking, I had to learn how to change that old behavior. To learn how not to drink. The same thing goes for many that steal, lie, drug, unfaithfulness and other old behaviors. What behaviors have u learned over the years that you need to learn to change today? Which may take years. Right? Thanks for letting me share. |
Old behaviors....hmmmmm....we all have them....right? Old habits, behaviors. Even as young as children. What about picking in ur noses...lol yuk or grabbing at privates.... lol yep we all need to scratch. :) Spit and chew or chew and spit....nasty.... Slap someone when u pass them....maybe not in a mean way, but just a tap. So now its a habit to do that each time u pass someone. Is that you? What about learning as a child that it is ok to have a sip of mom or dads drink now and then? It was cute then, but now we're full blown alcoholics all because it was normal habit to sip drinks as a child. What about offering a hit to someone just to try....u like it and soon it becomes a habit to meet with this person and take hits or lines or whatever it is. Or u know the burner is hot but u have to touch it to make sure but u forget each time and ur hand gets burned. A lesson or habit that is hard to stop. Learned habits can be stopped. Just like it was reputitious to do those same things day after day which are unhealthy and possibly harmful.....picking ur nose is harmful..lol ok u get my drift.... :) so can learn new habits or behaviors. All it takes is to take one step at a time. Crawl before u walk....even have someone carry u until u feel comfortable trying those new habits on ur own. New habits like using a tissue for ur nose and do this privately to not gross someone out. Or scratch in the ladies or mens rooms. What use to be cute like ur parents giving u sips of alcohol, think of it as giving ur babies poison. Stay away from those so call friends that deal because as u move on to healthier habits they will always be right there where u left them. So what habits or behaviors do u need to change? |
