Question New Here!!!

Hello I am new here and have to figure everything out. So hopefully I am in the right place. Looking to meet and get advice for my new journey in to recovery. I did not plan to become sober at this time but knew that I had too sometime! I had prayed and prayed for help. Well I ended up with pnumonia and found out that it is associated with alcholism. I was so sick well I still am so why not now! I am so ready and a week later I am still ready. I am scared for when I feel great I will want to drink so looking for as many routes to keep me sober! Would love to have advice, engouragement and how to use this site properly!!!

Welcome Nanc, Congratulations on 1 week. That is a terrific start. This site is a great place to just read and post. I would not have found the hope and encourgament to quit drinking without SR. We are glad you are here.

Welcome to SR and glad you decided you want to stay sober! I'm on my 4th day sober from alcohol and have found lots of support and encouragement here in my past 4 days of being here, so I feel you've found a great place. Congrats on your week sober! And once again, Welcome!

Hi Nanc! Welcome to SR and congratulations for planning ahead. You are right in finding the tools to deal with the urges before they come. My advice is to write down all the reasons you need and/or want to give drinking up for and post it here so you can refer back to it. Join AA or another form of recovery if you feel you will need the face to face accountability. I use SR and have found it invaluable in my recovery. My promise to myself is I will post here if the urges become unbearable by me alone. I also like the mantra, "I will not drink no matter what." That's my two cents.
