Milk Thistle

So yeah, I'm a pedal to the metal kind of guy, all or nothing. I figure if I'm going to stop drinking might as well do everything I can.
So I bought a liver flush, and Milk Thistle. I hope I don't break something loose in there.

What do you think about Milk Thistle?? Is it doing any good??

I honestly don't know. I researched it a little bit several months ago. I never wound up taking any. Everything I read about it kinda said, "Yeah, it might help a little, but then again it might not. No one really knows." It's considered a supplement so it's not regulated and it doesn't have sufficient research done on it to determine its true benefit.

If you take it as directed I don't think it will HURT you at all, but there are no promises it will help, either.

Hi,

I have no idea about the liver flush idea - sounds scary to me.

But, I do take milk thistle and have for years. I believe that it does work and is known to be beneficial to liver health. It also appears to have no side-effects or to cause any harm.

From all I've read HW--you will want to start with an intestinal flush, followed by a kidney, and finally a liver flush.
Although I am not very sold on this entire process--it seems a bit convenient--I am still reading/checking it out as part of the whole detoxification process.
Reason being, again--I cannot cite sources off the top of my head--nor can I verify the validity of said sources, but the thought process is to clean the plumbing of where toxins in the liver will be headed. Kind of counter productive to clean the liver first if there isn't a clean avenue for the body to flush it out.
Again--check it out yourself.

I have taken milk thistle for years, and a vitamin B complex started recently Supplements aren't FDA regulated or approved for any type of treatment, so really you're just taking this stuff at your own risk (that goes for all vitamins, minerals and herbs by the way). Hasnt' hurt me yet

The only thing I have ever heard that is slightly negative about milk thistle is that it can mess with the affect of any other medication you are taking so if you are on any prescribed meds., best to check with your doctor before you start using milk thistle. Hope it helps you if you decide to use it!
