Day 5 & mtg hubby (who drinks) for dinner
My husband who is probably an alcoholic as well wants to meet for dinner (we eat out a lot) and bring the kids. Unfortunately almost every place we go knows what I drink. I guess all I'm asking is, I'm REALLY trying to be strong and I"m going to have my Blackberry with me, any posts of support or threats or warnings of what I will feel like tomorrow are greatly appreciated!

If you don't drink tomorrow you will probably feel confident and empowered and if you do drink you will probably feel depressed and mad at yourself and a whole bunch of other negative emotions.
Read through some of the posts of others that have recently slipped and emphasize with their emotions. Then ask yourself is the going up worth the coming down.

For me a simple "no" is all it should take, if someone's being pushy I can always say "no thank you, I don't drink anymore".
If necessary, get there ahead of time and order something that looks like a cocktail, I always drink a club soda with lime. Whatever you feel comfortable with as long as it's not alcohol!

For me, this would be a difficult thing to do. Keep it up and I would been unable to resist the urge. There are so many other places to go and eat, could you consider changing restaurants? I would. LOL
I have something for your blackberry..
DONT DRINK...YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC IN RECOVERY...YOU CANNOT DRINK SAFELY ANYMORE...ONE DRINK AND YOU WILL FEED THE MONSTER AGAIN AND WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN...
ALCOHOLISM IS A PROGRESS ILLNESS....IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE..
REMEMBER ALL THIS.....WHAT EVER YOUR HEAD TELLs YOU...DONT PICK UP THAT DRINK......ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT.
plus we all care about you here and want the best for you......
So plan is......nice food...........enjoy the children......fizzy pop....and home safely.......job done.......................trucker

Just because they know what you USED to drink doesn't mean you have to order it! If they approach you and ask if you want your usual, just say a polite, "No thanks, not tonight! I'll have a Diet Coke instead." It's easy and I PROMISE they won't think anything of it!!
You will be SO HAPPY with yourself tomorrow if you make it through this dinner. Plus, if you're not drinking you will know that one of you will be able to safely and soberly drive your children home!!
Let us know how it goes.

I hope that you have a nice, uneventful, sober time with your family. One drink is not worth it and you KNOW that you would never have just one. I always remember that. Why would I have one? I wouldn't. So, the question then is: do I want to go back to being a miserable, lonely closet drinker? No thanks. I LOVE being a sober wife and mother today!!!!!!!
