Seriously, I would talk to a doctor.

A real doctor, do it for your own health and safety. You'll be fine, I'm sure, just get the correct medical treatment whatever it might be.

I've given meds to cattle but can't give medical advice to another human being.

Be good to yourself, your worth it.

I'm not going to give the medical side of it, because others here have shared alot of info with you already.
I will say that I drank alot, daily. And I detoxed on my own. Infact I never told anyone I was doing it.

Mostly I wanted to say stay here, post, learn, and know that reaching out is the best thing you can do! We are here for you. Many have been down this road. We are all here for the same reason, but in different stages.

God Bless & Pray that you will get sober!

Detoxing can be fatal. I don't recommend doing it alone or at home. That's just my 2cents.

That being said, I detoxed w/ some medical help at home AGAINST THE ADVICE OF MY DOCTOR.

Don't do that...

Sounds like you won't know how bad your detox is until you are into it. Getting some professional help to get through it sure sounds like the way to go.

Good for you for posting here and being so open about what is going on. Keep posting!

Muwel,

Welcome!

It is against our rules to ask for or to give medical advice.

I know detoxing is scary, but if your dr says you can do it on your own, then it should be okay. Other than that, you can go to an ER.

Please let us know how you make out.

What do you want to do? Quit drinking tell him if your choosing to do that. Be transparent with him/her. Make sure you tell the doc ALL your concerns, all of them.

Tell him your scared, you don't know what will happen. Tell em' how much, how long, how often, all that stuff. Make em listen, your responsible for your health. Politely demand to your satisfaction for the doc to truly medically care for your condition. Ask the 'what ifs'. What if I start feeling like such and such, what if I hallucinate, or vomit, or tremble....on and on.

Get satisfaction in your treatment, don't leave without it I say.

God bless you, wish I could help more.

I agree with masseyman, make sure the doctor knows all of your concerns. We are not doctors, and I doubt the people on the alcohol help line are doctors, so it will really come down to you and your doctor making the decision. Dont let him rush you or try to brush you off, make him tell you the positives and negatives of each posibility for your detox. You can do it.

muwel88... im not saying your gonna have to go to hospital.

Just a visit to the doctors for a QUALIFIED opinion..

I would love to say "Yeah gets some valium, few sweats your be fine"

But none of us here is qualified to tell you one way or the other.

The chances are your doc will be happy for you to do that..

Please come back and share how you got on.....and keep coming back.

Its a great place for advice and support...............trucker

I have to agree with 51Anna....we should not ask people who are not doctors for advice on what to do of a medical nature. And...I am sorry if I came across as trying to influence you one way or another. I meant only to share my experience so that you could make an informed decision.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Please let us know how things are going!

Hugs, HG
