Mood Swings
Mood Swings
Does anyone have these? Cause I just flipped out at my sister for a pretty dumb thing. I just got so mad started throwing all my stuff I could get my hands on all over my room. I am now scared. I am not an angry person and it was about freakin pizza. I dont know if I should remove myself for a couple days maybe go to detox. I DONT KNOW! HELP!

Question is how do you feel now? I experienced short-fused mood swings early in detox as well. I find that they tend to fade or become less intense as time goes on. That's not to say that they fade completely. Not even a completely sober non-alcoholic is immune to short mental breakdowns.
When you feel these type (anger, frustration, anxiety) emotions coming on, try to do some relaxation breathing techniques, or simply give yourself a time out. Or heck, burn that anger off by exercising or hitting a punching bag.

I feel this great urge to use now. I did go to my room instead of freaking out in front of them. Now I am gonna stay on my computer for the rest of the night to be safe.

What I do
Hi, HT. Some people scoff it off, but it helps me. The only way I manage to stay even is to take a little time everyday and just get quiet. Some people call it meditating. I don't care what it's called but it's a gift for me. I am becoming a calm person. You don't know me but trust that is a major improvement for me. I feel better and I make fewer messes out in the world.
Take care.

mca00- thanks I am trying that right now and I am calm.....tell my father came down to find out what happened. I just feel like the biggest a$$ in the world right now. I yelled. but now am back to peace and quiet. I am going to say sorry to all of them in the morning for what I just did. Thanks for the advice. Oh and I did a little bit of crying and laughing which also helped. Thanks So much.

Quiet time, however you may put it or go about it, is a really good thing. Sometimes ya just gotta remove yourself from the outside world. And by that, I don't mean picking up a bottle. I mean just relax, take time to think about absolutely nothing.

I find a hot shower at night without having to worry about getting out to go to work, and making it a long one is very relaxing. This also helps to set your core body temp to aid in falling asleep faster.

People need to know what your mind and body is going through right now at that very point. It is a war between you and the bottle, a hard battle that will continue but you will win with advice and trust of yourself and others.

I have used Coke a few times and it is a real hard one to come down from and my nerves were always frayed and I lashed out at everyone. It will pass soon enough.
This is from a Kris Kristofferson song
From the rocking of the cradle to the rolling of the hearse
The going up ain't worth the coming down
I changed the last line from is to ain't.
Hang in and keep safe.
