I'm about a week into my sobriety walk and this is my first posting, although I have spent a lot of time viewing this site. I thank all of you who post...It has helped and encouraged me beyond my expectations.
I'm an avid golfer and went to the golf course today without drinking, usually a huge trigger for me. It seems kind of funny thinking that a person would be excited about this, something most people can do everyday. But for me this was huge, I haven't golfed without beer since I was a little kid.
Since I really don't have anyone to express this milestone to, y'all are stuck with having to hear me.
Once again thanks to all who post here, you make a difference.

Welcome to SR and good luck. On the lighter side what did you shoot? If you play better drunk than sober maybe you should take the cash you are saving and invest in lessons.
Check out the class of January. Lots of us Newbs go there and post daily or semi daily.

Welcome to SR!
Congratulations on not drinking at the golf course. I know with many, that goes hand in hand. I pray that skipping the beer will make you a better golfer!!!
So glad you are here with us. Please keep posting and sharing your journey!

One day At A Time
Hi, JSM....keep up the good work. I am a newbie at sobriety too, and I am going to just take it one day at a time...it is tricky not to drink when we're so used to drinking...But it can be done. It hasn't been too hard for me: though I don't sleep so well right now: and my hubby has a drink at night...I just ignore it, and carry on doing my own thing...take care; keep posting..Debbs
Hey jsm
Yea, I know what you mean. I ski, this is the time of year for that, and lunch sans beer, well, it was different, but like most normal people, it can be done... I am proof of that! I think I skied as well sober as not, but I know had just as good a time!

The more people the more positive feedback and help we all get. Welcome I have been on this site for 15+ days and not wanted to drink (well maybe once) but with help I got through it, I wish i could go back and see how in the dark i was back in those dark days.
