Day 2

Everyone,

It is day two and I feel great. Had a little trouble falling asleep, but that has happened each time I have attempted sobriety. I ironed my clothes for work last night and it feels great to be dressed to impress in shirt and tie. I actually care what I look like at work and the image I am portraying. I also started on a bunch of different vitamins, hebs, and minerals I have researched that are supposed to help with the withdrawal as well as the chemical imbalances that make us want to drink. I will let you know how those work. My friend's girlfriend is in the hospital right now being treated for preterm labor. Hopefully everything works out, but it does make me start thinkin how much worse and more stressgul life can be. All of the stresses I have ever thought were a reason to drink seem minor to what he is going through. Anyway, I just wanted to keep everyone updated and let you know that all of you are helping with my sobrietry. I love you all.

Hi C23!
Glad you can see how much worse life can be -- normally -- for others! I, too, need to be grateful for what I have and be reminded that the drink will only lead me to hell and/or death! Sounds like you are "dressed to impress" and feelin' it!

Have a great day!

Congrats C23!! Doesn't it feel great to wake up without a hangover?!!?

I'm also suffering from sleep deprivation this morning...maybe 4 hours, but I'll take sleepy over a throbbing headache anyday.

Keep up the good work and believe in yourself!

Hi C23. Good for you making it to day 2. I had insomnia in early sobriety also. It lasted only a few days. Taking vitamins is also a good thing. I did that too.

Here's another suggestion. Drink lots of water. I done that and it helped a lot. I'm not sure if your going to AA or thinking of going. I went to meetings and still do. But if your not interested there is other things you can check out on here with the "Secular connections" forum.

Good luck with starting your new life and keeping reading and posting on SR. They help saved my life.

Barb

Good for you!

I found that B vitamins were a godsend to me when I stopped drinking.

I too am on day 2, again....

I went for a run this morning and feel totally energized now, so give some thought to exercising in addition to your supplements. Also, I have found Theanine Serene useful to help me relax at night and focus on getting a solid 8 hours of sleep.

Water, water and more water

Keep up the good work and let's do this together!

Yeah, I figured after this week I will start going to the gym again. Lord knows, I pay for it every month. Thanks for the advice and I would be honored to do this with you.

PS, looks like you are in my neck of the woods, CO

Getting back to the gym is one of the things that I an doing too but be careful if you are doing weights. Start off slowly and don't go to heavy.

Day 2 is great! I hope you keep on the right path. Just let each day come and deal with it alone. Don't think about tomorrow. Finish out the day.
