Hi, new here.

Hi from the UK.

Just new here and have been getting some inspiration for STOPPING tomorrow!!

Will try and stay around to keep motivated.

After drinking 10-30 uk units a day for 20 years something has to give.

There is definitely a lot of inspiration and support here. I unfortuntely have some 20+ years of insanity drinking under my belt as well.

:drive: Time to take control of the wheel...

Glad you're here.

http://www.v-rodforums.com/forums/im...es/welcome.gif you can do it!

strykeruk 01-16-2009 01:44 AM

Well last night saw me downing my LAST drink. I am determined that this must STOP!!

After 20 years of solid drinking at least x5 the reccomended alcohol units i have made the decision to quit. I cannot controll my drinking in the normal way, say drinking once a week or less wine per night so i have to stop completely.

I'm not sure how i came to the decision to stop, no bolt from the blue, no big row or getting into trouble. I think its just the case of enough is enough before too much damage is done to my health.

I guess i'm what is known as a functioning, dare i say it?....yes.... alcoholic.
Outwardly i have a charmed life. A good job large house three good kids and a loving wife. So why drink every night??? Habit? stuck in a rut? who knows.

I'm not really sure what to expect as this is the only time i have quit!! But i am determined that with the support from SR then this is the first :biggthumpday in my new life.
