Beautiful 70F degree sunny day... until 1 mile into my run and it started raining, hard.
I swear my shoes felt like they were 5 pounds each once completely soaked, lol.
Great 5 mile run, totally drenched.

hey Tommy- I am a long distance cyclist (usually 30-60 miles)- which I run also and the miles are a lot harder running and right with you- it really takes the craving away- actually the natural endorphin high is SO much better than that crazy alcohol/drug thing- and you get healthy in the process!!!! Great post by the way. Excellente. You are helping people here!!!!

Goofy ass head cold is keeping me from running & lifting for a week now, but I think my body can use the rest.
I started a food intake program (fancy phrase for 'diet', lol) about 4 weeks ago where every meal is preceded by 3/4 cup of instant mashed potatoes, then I eat only healthy foods for the actual meal. The mashed potatoes tend to fill me up without adding on a lot of calories. It is working REALLY well in bringing out abdominal development. Doing sit ups & crunches with a 45lb. weight on my chest helps too, lol.
All is well, just enduring a head cold. No big deal at all.

I used to run three years ago and got pretty fit and did a couple of races (5k and 10k) but for one reason or another i packed it in, ate more and drank even more.
Anyway, on day 17 off the booze today and I thought I would begin a beginners programme, the one I did a few years ago. So at 06:30 this morning I went out and did run 2mins walk 1 min repeated seven times. It felt good and was quite inspiring to be out there doing excercise before most people were even up.
Am going to take it slowly but I have the 10k I did before penciled in for October this year if all goes well.

Well done The Changing man What determination!
I used to be able to run too but with drinking taking over it became too difficult.
My one attempt to try running now sober wasn't succesful because I tried to do too much all at once.
Now I must go for brisk walks every day to get my body prepared gradually;
i'm hoping that by posting here it'll make me do that walk everydayand then work it up into a jog.
i found it quite important to try to enjoy what was around me while i was walking. It's a whole new way of training myself to find pleasure in other things than drinking.
Thanks for the thread.
