If it doesn't fit you have to quit.

Sunday run of 5 miles, no bare pavement anywhere, all snow, snow, snow, and more snow, lol.

Freaking crazy-azz run... I dressed for 10 degrees, got out there and it was 25 degrees.

Hotter than hell, sweating like a pig, lol, can't stop or the sweat freezes.

Slipping, sliding, flailing every which way. What a hoot!

I'll remember this one for a while!

Running has always been a part of my life. It's much more enjoyable, and a much needed stress reliever since getting sober. I'm getting high on life and loving every minute of it. Rock On Everyone!

I went running alot when I lived in Alaska with my then-Dog, there's nothing like the rush you get when running through the wilderness with a best friend (and one who'll keep you safe from bears!).
Now that I moved back to the city, I can't stand to run on pavement. But I do go 'power walking' pretty regularly around my neighborhood.
One of the people who inspired me to get sober was a runner.

I am not a runner, but I walked 4 miles with a friend. The snow has melted enough that the roads were bare. We walked and talked, but it was at least 32 degrees. It is such a great feeling to get outside in the fresh air....I don't think I would go if it was 4 degrees...and no bears, just a couple of annoying dogs!

I can't wait to run again. It's my drug. And nice not to have to do it after a drink and pills - very hard to breathe deeply on codeine, lol!

I hurt my rib really bad over Christmas and it has only just stopped hurting when I walk. But I walk in my lunch break for half an hour and it has kept me (almost) sane.

Let it heal up really well or you risk re-aggravating the injury.

Patience....

And I think 60 degrees is cold! (OK, I live in Florida) Tommy, fitness is also my way of overcoming the booze...though I've had my struggles & false starts recently. Yesterday I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer for 3 months. I spent so much money that I would be physically ILL if I blew it all by drinking... I can't turn back now.
Keep up the good work! xo, hippychicky

Hi, I love exercising sooo much but to be truthful it just hasn't happened the last few years due to the booze and hangovers, it takes me about 3-4 days to feel back to normal. I'm planning on beginning a beginners jogging programme as soon as I've kicked a bug I've just caught. I've got a big dog which needs a lot of exercise so I'm going to go running with him

GOOD FOR YOU TOMMYK! I started run/jogging right after the new year and I feel amazing...its really cold outside here today and I was thinking about skipping it but reading your original post motivated me to get all bundled up and go for it! I know how great it makes me feel and I am so proud of myself for my almost six months recovery! GOOD JOB TO ALL OF US!!!!

Great job!
I haven't been a runner in probably 3 years.

Pretty much after I found about my hubby's thing with someone else I kind of went into a slump & thought why am I busting my a$$ every day to run & get up early to do pilates, when all he cares about is going to bars & meeting chicks. I think thats when my drinking a drink or 2 started alone, because I was sad. Which obviously escalated to much more than that.

Oddly it took a good couple years for us to get past. but my drinking never stopped. I have since gained 10-12 lbs.

I bet I would feel so much better if I went back to excersizing.

Sunday January 25th run... 5 miles... 12F degrees.

Amazing how I can layer my clothing to stay all sweaty & warm inside my 'cocoon' while it is soooo freaking cold on the outside. I turn up the music and go, and it is like I am in another world.
