Running / walking / fitness for sobriety.
I have never posted here but it looks like a good network.. I swim most of the time, some jogging, walking and gym classes (I love physical stuff)..
This morning 2450 yds in the pool - (I swim with a group and we do planned workouts), and walked the dog for 45 minutes (not exactly brisk - he is getting old and has earned the right to a sniffing pace!)

ps - the actual hardest exercise this AM was getting into the house through the dog door because I locked myself out - it involves holding your body in a plank and inching in, turning the hips when you get to the waist so that the bottom half of your body goes in sideways.. the dog followed me with much more agility!
Dog Door LOL!
Did the 5 miles today. Humidity is getting nasty but I didnt turn green.
Struggling up the hills reminds me of the feelings of being hungover... not getting enough air, sweating, every step takes effort. When I have my moments of questionable willpower I find these 5 mile runs to be helping in more ways than building physical endurance. Another day done

Morning all,
In the early - 2500 yds which kind of kicked the part of my anatomy that I sit on. Will take the dog for a walk later - much later.
Being physically active is a life saver! I am just restarting complete abstinence after trying moderation and once again failing. I kept physically active even while drinking which makes it very interesting to feel how much BETTER it is to work out when not drinking.. I have to remember what a huge gift this sober stuff is.
Have a good one all of you jocks!

Tommy I couldn't run a mile!
I had to do a youth event at work last week that involved a game of Rounders! yes rounders!
I couldn't walk for days lol
(we won still )
A few years ago I lost three stone through excersise. I never felt so good and I cant even begin to explain the confidence I had!
I have put the weight back on through family loss one after the other in the last three years.
I wan't that fitness back again but cant seem to take the first step!
I was still drinking last time I got fit but it lost complete interest in it. I want to feel like that again!
Where do I start?

Pixy... every journey begins with the first step... ... seriously - go run around the block and see how you feel tomorrow. When there is no more 'soreness', run 1.5 blocks... then 2 blocks... repeat. I remember my first run several years ago was less than a mile.
Hot... hot... steamy... 100% humidity hot.
I was thinking during my 5 mile run today about how I ran in the same places when it was 10F degrees and snowing outside. Didn't help, I was still gagging in the heat.

(Running, walking, swimming... all great ways to keep in shape.... good job. )
Tuesday evening I ate bread, sugared cookies, and potato salad for the first time since April 20th.
I FLEW through my 5 mile run today, I had to force myself to slow down.

Ran 8km (5 miles) not as easy as it was, its been a week since I ran and a few weeks since I interrupted my running schedule.
5-10km planned for tomorrow.
Off to do some work and practice some basic capoeira moves

Can I join in here?!?! I decided to try to gt into better shape after Memorial day, joined a Gym close to the house along with my Son. I have gone 3-5 days a week ever since, 1st day, I couldn't go 5 minutes on the Elliptical machine on level one. I have worked my way up to anywhere between 30-60 minutes at level 14 all up and down hill, also the treadmill doing hill intervals. Weights 1-2 times a week to start toning....I have lost 21 lbs!!!!! Also A full size in clothing!! Today I went 2 1/2 miles on the elliptical doing hills and 1.25 miles uphill on the treadmill!!
Whew, I thought I killed the thread so I stayed off for a few days!!! What a great way to get motivated. I am off to the gym, 30 min. elliptical on hills, 30 min. up hill treadmill, I am starting to feel great, and people are noticing that I look better, nothing like a compliment to get you to step up the program!
