30 Day Event Monitor

I have a question for those who have worn one of these...

I thought they were going to set me up with a 24hr or 48hr monitor, but I have a 30 day event heart monitor instead. I have no idea how much this is going to cost--I do not have insurance. I just need a ballpark figure so I can plan ahead (searches on Google are not turing up anything helpful).

Ah! And my work hours are being cut. What a wonderful way to start the year. :)

On the sunny side, I'm sober and I'm sure to remain that way as long as I'm wearing this thing. No, I don't want to start drinking again afterwards...but it IS easier for me to be sober when I have to deal with stuff like this. :dunno:

Cant you ask them how much it will cost?

TryingSoHard 01-09-2009 01:58 PM

Yeah, they gave it to you without telling you how much it's going to cost or making arrangements for you to pay? Usually money is the FIRST thing docs want to discuss. LOL Do you know who issued the device (the lab or monitoring company)? Perhaps you can call them if the doc didn't tell you anything concrete. I wish I could give you more specific info.

I've never had anything like that Bam - so I can't help ya.
The drs you're seeing should be able to provide that info tho?
I would have thought they'd be obliged to, really.

well done on the approaching month!

Well, I need to give the billing department/finacial councellor at the hospital a call tomorrow (or Monday if they're closed for the weekend). I have a form to apply for a discount. Hopefully that gets accepted...if not, at the very least I hope that they can schedule a payment plan. Wish me luck. :)

Aysha 01-09-2009 02:15 PM

Most places do offer payments. I am glad they are doing something tho. I dont think they would have given it to you if they didnt have some kind of options.
I wouldnt worry about the money so much. Just worry about getting yourself better and finding out WTH is going on.

TryingSoHard 01-09-2009 02:25 PM

Oh, they will take what they can get from you, whenever they can get it! I just mean if you have to do a payment plan, they will gladly take it. Just don't put any medical charges on a credit card. Pay them $5 a week if you have to, just don't charge it. I believe it becomes general consumer debt instead of medical debt if you do that, and then you're stuck with dealing with the credit card company instead of the hospital/lab/doctor's office.

And I agree with Chiy... just get yourself taken care of. The money part will work itself out.

I don't know about the 30 day event monitor, I had the 24 and 48 monitor. It seems to me that when you don't have insurance, the fee is much lower. I bet they will work with you. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Love,

Lenina
